Anxious Attachment Style: Signs, Causes and How to Break Free.
You recognize the pattern, Yet it keeps repeating.
Identify why, change the response, break the cycle.
What is anxious attachment style?
Recognize the patterns that shape the way you connect, react and feel in your relationships.
Recognize Patterns That Start Early
You look for reassurance. You fear distance or rejection. Your emotional state shifts with the other person’s mood, presence or attention.
These patterns can affect men and women at any age and appear in romantic relationships, friendships, family relationships or even at work.
Understand Where the Pattern Begins
You learn how to connect with others from your earliest relationships. When you don’t feel accepted, secure or emotionally supported, you can develop ways of protecting the connection.
Later, you may repeat what feels familiar. You choose similar dynamics, fear the same situations or react in the same way even when the relationship causes you pain.
Recognize What Happens When You Fear Losing the Connection
You anticipate distance. You look for reassurance. You overanalyse messages, silences or changes in behaviour. You may feel intense anxiety when the other person pulls away or becomes unavailable.
The relationship starts to control how you feel, think and react.
Change the Pattern
Anxious attachment is not your personality. It is a relational pattern and patterns can change.
What are the signs of anxious attachment?
How anxious attachment shows up in your relationships:
- You seek reassurance regularly to feel secure in the relationship.
- You struggle to say no or set clear boundaries.
- You adapt yourself to other people’s needs and expectations.
- You fear disappointing, rejection or abandonment
- You overanalyse messages, silences, changes in tone or behaviour.
- You hold on even when you know the relationship no longer works for you.
- You struggle to leave even when you know the relationship is unhealthy.
If you recognize several of these patterns, anxious attachment may be influencing the way you connect, react and feel in your relationships
What are the causes of anxious attachment and codependency?
You understand what’s happening. You want to change. So why do the same patterns keep repeating?
You learn relationship patterns early in life. When love, attention or emotional security feels inconsistent or conditional, you develop ways to protect the connection.
Later, you repeat what feels familiar. You adapt, seek reassurance, fear rejection or put the other person first even when you know the situation no longer works for you.
Your conscious mind says “this needs to change,” while your subconscious recognizes a familiar pattern and keeps repeating it.
Understand the pattern. Change what keeps it active.

"A few years ago, one of my employees stole from me. Beyond the financial loss, I felt deeply betrayed. I thought about it every day, and that mistrust influenced every decision I made at work. From the very first session, I felt that emotional burden lift and began to understand why I had been so affected. Today, I look back on that experience without pain or resentment, and I can finally run my business with confidence."

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS -
Do you have any questions?
How long does it take to overcome anxious attachment?
There is no single answer — it depends on how long the pattern has been present and how deeply rooted it is. Many clients notice a significant shift after the first session. A complete transformation of relational patterns generally takes between 40 days and 3 months.
What is the difference between anxious attachment and codependency?
Anxious attachment describes a relational pattern rooted in fear of abandonment and a need for constant reassurance. Codependency goes a step further — it is when your sense of identity and emotional stability becomes entirely organised around another person. The two often overlap, and both can be worked on through Mental Reset Coaching.
Will I forget that person if I cut ties with them?
No. The goal is not to erase the relationship but to free yourself from the emotional hold it has over you — keeping what was meaningful while releasing what is keeping you stuck.
How do you cut ties with someone you love?
Cutting ties is rarely about the other person. It is about reclaiming your own emotional space. In coaching, we work on the attachment pattern itself — not just the relationship — so the change is lasting.
Does it work remotely?
Yes. All sessions take place online via Zoom or WhatsApp. Distance does not affect the depth of the work. Clients across Ireland, the UK, and internationally have experienced lasting results.
How many sessions are required?
It depends on your situation and goals. A single session can produce measurable results on a specific issue. For deeper relational patterns — anxious attachment or codependency — the 3-session program over 40 days is recommended.
