Why does your brain
resist change?

Discover how neuroscience-based coaching can help you make more lasting changes.

Do these situations sound familiar to you?

Cognitive neuroscience isn’t just for researchers. It explains situations you may experience every week.

How do the neurosciences affect your daily life?

These automatic responses never occur in isolation. Driven by a nervous system that remains on high alert, they spread, unnoticed, into various areas of your life.

In everyday life

Low energy. Trouble calming my nervous system at the end of the day. Less restful sleep. My confidence fluctuates from day to day. Relationships are sometimes strained for no apparent reason.

In your role as a leader or at work

Decisions put off. Mental strain building up silently. The nervous system under constant strain, with no real time to recover. Performance that’s up and down despite accumulated experience.

What exactly is cognitive neuroscience?

Neuroscience is a broad scientific field that encompasses several disciplines studying the brain, the nervous system, and their influence on our behavior.

Definition and Key Concepts

Cognitive neuroscience focuses specifically on cognitive processes: perception, attention, language, memory, consciousness, and learning. It seeks to understand how the human brain processes information and performs its functions, transforming an experience into knowledge or an automatic response.

This field draws on several disciplines: biology, psychology, and sometimes neuropsychology, and relies on a variety of research methods, including behavioral observation and brain imaging.

A field of science that is constantly evolving, which I have been following for nearly twenty years

For a long time, research viewed the adult brain as static. Advances in recent decades have gradually shown that it retains its ability to adapt at any age. I have closely followed this evolution in our understanding, and it is this evolution that, year after year, has laid the foundation for my Mental Reset method.

One discipline among many

A related field, behavioral neuroscience, focuses more on motivation and the processes that underlie our actions. In my approach, these different fields complement one another to help us understand how your automatic behaviors actually work, beyond intuitive interpretations.

Which cognitive functions am I working on with you?

In my coaching work, four functions come up particularly often when it comes to understanding an automatic response and taking action on it—not just describing it.

Perception

Your nervous system assesses whether a situation is safe or threatening before you even have a chance to think about it. This is often the root cause of an overreaction to an email or a harmless comment.

Attention

Under heavy mental strain, attention narrows and prioritizes urgency at the expense of what’s essential. This is a pattern I see very often among overworked executives.

Memory

Every significant experience leaves a mark that influences your current reactions, sometimes even years later. During a session, we trace it back to its source to defuse it.

Language

The way you talk to yourself internally directly shapes your beliefs and your self-confidence. Identifying this internal dialogue is an important part of my work.

These four functions never operate in isolation: they constantly interact with one another, which explains why an automatic response often resists superficial analysis. It is precisely this interplay that I explore with you during our sessions, in light of your personal history.

What does cognitive neuroscience have to say about this resistance to change?

For a long time, it was believed that the brain remained static once adulthood was reached. Today, cognitive neuroscience shows that the brain retains the ability to create and strengthen new connections throughout life: neuroplasticity.

Every repeated behavior strengthens the connections between the neurons involved. Imagine a route you take every day: a different path requires attention at first, but then becomes second nature through repetition. Your brain works the same way—a central principle of human cognition.

After a tough day, the craving for a square of chocolate isn’t always linked to actual hunger: your brain has associated that moment with a feeling of comfort, over and over again, until it becomes automatic. For leaders, this same principle explains why certain reactions under pressure remain the same: the brain favors what it already knows, because it requires less energy.

Understanding how it works is an essential step. However, this is not always enough to bring about lasting behavioral change, because every automatic response results from the interaction of several factors: emotions, beliefs, the nervous system, and past experiences.

Understanding How We Learn

A new automatic response takes root through learning: through repetition, in a safe environment that allows the brain to step outside its comfort zone. This is why a structured framework facilitates what willpower alone sometimes struggles to achieve.

✔ A better understanding of your reactions

✔ Reduced stress and mental overload

✔ Restful sleep

✔ Increased trust

✔ Better decision-making

✔ You react differently, whether in your professional or personal life.

✔ You are gradually emerging from a state of constant alert

What sets my neuroscience coaching apart?

My coaching approach is based on several complementary dimensions, which I have combined into a neuroscience-based coaching method I call Mental Reset.

01 ·

Neurosciences

To understand how the brain actually works.

02 ·

Neuroplasticity

Because the brain continues to develop at any age, given the right environment.

03 ·

Nervous System

Because it affects your ability to feel safe, adapt, and cope with everyday challenges.

04 ·

Behavior and Beliefs

To turn understanding into observable change.

Most clients notice tangible changes between three and six sessions, because the work addresses the root cause of the issue, not just the symptom.

Testimonials

Sandrine, 36, Paris

"Just understanding why I was dwelling on things so much has already brought me some peace. Working with Nadège then allowed me to actually change my reactions, not just understand them."

Laurent, Executive, 39, Brussels

"As a leader, I was looking for measurable results, not some vague sense of well-being. The approach is evidence-based and structured, and I saw a real difference in my decision-making within a few weeks."

What happens during a session?

Each session takes place remotely via videoconference in a confidential and supportive setting, whether you are in France, Switzerland, or Belgium.

Together, we identify the automatic patterns that perpetuate your challenges, understand why they recur, and work to establish new, more appropriate responses through an approach that integrates cognitive neuroscience, coaching, and emotional work.

The goal: to help you find greater clarity, peace of mind, and lasting changes in your daily life.

Question about neuroscience and coaching:

Neuroscience—and in particular the principle of neuroplasticity—serves as a framework for understanding what shapes an automatic response, before working on it using behavioral and emotional tools tailored to your situation.

It is the brain’s ability to create and strengthen new connections throughout life. It explains why a habit that has been ingrained for years can still change, given the right conditions.

Most clients notice tangible changes after three to six sessions. Neuroplasticity works through repetition: the more a new neural pathway is used regularly, the faster it becomes established.

Neuroscience helps us better understand the mechanisms that influence our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Because they provide a better understanding of the mechanisms that influence personal change and growth.

Understanding a mechanism is a useful first step. Practicing during a session provides the guided repetition needed to solidify a new neural pathway—something that understanding alone rarely achieves.
